Karol Nawrocki met with Donald Trump during the celebrations organized to celebrate the 80th birthday of the American president. Although the president’s associates argue that the talks concerned key security issues and Polish-American relations, questions about the backstage of the visit also arose.

The Polish Radio correspondent in the USA, Marek Wałkuski, drew attention to them. We will not find any photo reports of the conversations between the two politicians either on social media or on photo websites. For comparison, there are plenty of reports from, for example, the meeting between Donald Trump and the Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk.

Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Office, explained the lack of photos by the absence of the presidential photographer. The reason was supposed to be unusual. According to the minister, the Polish delegation received an invitation for only two people.

Karol Nawrocki decided that the accompanying person would be former UFC champion Jan Błachowicz. Marcin Przydacz himself admitted that for this reason he could not participate in some of the events taking place in the White House.

The athlete did not hide his satisfaction with the trip to Washington. “When I was learning about Kościuszko and Pulaski in primary school, I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would be part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of US independence,” he wrote on his Instagram profile.

Jan Błachowicz also emphasized the uniqueness of the event. “The UFC gala in the White House is an unprecedented event. I am glad that I can still write the history of the organization: first as its champion, today as a spectator and an active competitor. Such invitations are not refused. When I will be 93 years old, I hope they will invite me to the 300th anniversary. I have already marked it in my calendar, just in case,” he added.

However, Karol Nawrocki’s entourage argues that the most important element of the visit were political talks. The president’s spokesman, Rafał Leśkiewicz, emphasized that participation in the ceremony had primarily a state dimension.

– When pursuing serious politics, you should participate primarily in meetings with serious politicians. Such an event was the 80th birthday of Donald Trump, representing our most important ally. Karol Nawrocki talked to the American leader about things that are important for Poland, but also important for Polish-American relations, primarily the presence of American soldiers – he assured on TV Republika.

According to Marcin Przydacz Karol Nawrocki was the only foreign head of state present during the banquet part of the event. As the minister reported, the Polish president was to talk to Donald Trump twice. During his stay in Washington, Karol Nawrocki also met with US Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and Jared Kushner, involved in international negotiations regarding, among others, Middle East.
