NATO planes over Poland. “It could have been a signal to Russia”
The presence of numerous military aircraft was recorded in Polish airspace. An expert from ZBiAM spoke on the matter.
The foreign Flight Radar 24 platform, which provides the current location of aircraft on radar, reported that several dozen machines operated in the airspace over Poland (including the so-called tankers and AWACS aircraft – an abbreviation for airborne warning and control system). They could be noticed by the inhabitants of Szczecin, Bydgoszcz and Poznań.
Expert Łukasz Pacholski – member of the Military Research and Analysis Team – explained in an interview with Wirtualna Polska that on Tuesday (August 18) military machines operated over Europe.

The portal, citing the analyzes of other experts, reported that the activity of aircraft belonging to the North Atlantic Alliance countries was also recorded in Swedish, Finnish, Danish and Lithuanian airspace.
Reason? Unknown. It is not known why the activity of NATO machines on the eastern flank of the Alliance has increased.
The “Fakt” daily drew attention to the command’s recent press release, which provided information about NATO exercises – including: over the northern territory of the Republic of Poland. But that doesn’t explain everything. What is interesting is the presence of, among others, EA-37B Compass Call combat aircraft. This is a machine that is, among other things, able to interfere with radars, electronic systems (including communications).
– These are very specialized machines designed for electronic warfare tasks. They can disrupt or disorganize the operation of any devices – said Dariusz Wiaderski, journalist of the monthly “Wojska i Techniki”. They result in “air defenses remaining blind.” He admitted that it appeared in Central Europe for the first time.

The editor of the MILMAG portal also shed new light on what is happening on NATO’s eastern flank.
– Most large exercises are announced in advance by NATO’s press services. Today we can estimate that there were from 40 to 60 machines in the air. Not all of them had transponders turned on, which would allow their movements to be observed on applications such as Flightradar. We cannot rule out that sudden exercises may be the Alliance’s response to leaks from The Wall Street Journal about a possible attack by the Russian Federation on one of the Baltic states. The sudden show of power could have been a signal for the Moscow authorities to give up such an idea, he said (quote from “Fakt”).
