Mysterious Circumstances of Death of 25-Year-Old Priest. He Died in the Mountains
The Gliwice diocese delivered sad news about the death of Father Paweł Pilśniak. The circumstances of the accident involving the young priest will now be determined by the services. The 25-year-old was ordained in 2023.
The death of the priest was announced, among others, by the chancellor of the Diocesan Curia in Gliwice, Fr. Sebastian Wiśniewski. “The accident occurred during a mountain expedition” on June 27, he said.
The matter will be investigated
Father Pilśniak was only 25 years old. At this moment it is not known how the tragic accident happened – the services will investigate the circumstances of the case.
On Facebook, they said goodbye to the priest, among others: employees of the Rehabilitation Center dedicated to Saint Raphael the Archangel in Rusinowice (Silesian Voivodeship). At the beginning of August last year, Fr. Pilśniak gave the place its first blessing.
The Roman Catholic parish of St. Francis of Assisi in Zabrze also reported the priest’s death. “Last year, he served in our parish during the holidays,” we read.
“I will remember him as a man who was always smiling”
The statement published on the curia’s website has not yet announced the funeral date. Fr. Wiśniewski said that it will be announced later, which the diocese will certainly communicate to the faithful. The clergy recommended the deceased to prayer.
In the parish of the Conversion of St. Paul in Pyskowice On June 28, there will be a mass for Fr. Pilśniak.
Clergy and believers who knew the 25-year-old priest expressed their condolences to his loved ones. They point out that he was a pastor “by vocation”, “open to people”, “a wonderful retreat leader”. “I will remember him as always smiling,” one of his friends commented on the post on social media.

Although it is not known how the accident ultimately occurred, it is worth recalling a few mountain safety rules. You should also check the weather and take appropriate clothing, as well as the necessary equipment.
