More problems for Michał Probierz. Injury of the Polish representative
Maxi Oyedele may leave the November training camp of the Polish national football team. The talented Legia Warszawa midfielder has health problems.
In recent days, the club from the capital had to cope without its star, he was brought in from Manchester United. Maxi Oyedele played in the Polish Cup match against Miedź Legnica this week. The Legionnaires won 2-1, but the player himself made a big mistake when scoring for the first league player.
Maxi Oyedele injured. More problems for Michał Probierz
It cannot be ruled out that health discomfort contributed to a costly mistake during the cup clash in Legnica. TVP Sport reported in a text by Piotr Kamieniecki what exactly happened with Oyedele in recent days. The player was absent in the hit league clash between Legia and Widzew Łódź (2:1).
– Oyedele returned to the club with an injury after the Polish national team training camp. The midfielder was injured in the match against Croatia. However, he gritted his teeth and finished the competition. We tried conservative treatment and silence. We thought it would go in the right direction, but… no. I talked to Maxim on Saturday and it turned out that with such ailments he would not be able to compete in his position – admitted coach Goncalo Feio after the top-league clash with the Łódź team.
Officially, Legia reported that there were problems with ankle pain. There are many indications that Oyedele will not be among those called up by coach Michał Probierz for the November national team matches. Let us remind you that injuries do not spare the national team. Not so long ago they had problems, among others: Jakub Piotrowski or Paweł Dawidowicz. Oyedele seems to fit on that list.
UEFA Nations League: The Polish national team has a chance of advancing
After four rounds, it is still not certain who will play next in the A League. The leaders of Group 1 are the Portuguese, who lost their first points only on Tuesday evening. Cristiano Ronaldo and company were stopped by the Scots, drawing with the leader goalless and thus gaining… their first point in this year’s competition.
Portugal has 10 points and the lead. In second place are the Croatians, who lost (1-2) to Portugal away, but were able to beat both the Scots (2-1) and the Poles (1-0) at home. Additionally, a very important draw from Croatia’s perspective was the draw at the PGE National Stadium (3:3), which allowed them to maintain distance over the Polish national team. Coach Probierz’s team, however, still has a chance to be among the two best teams in the group, which will advance them to the play-off phase, to the quarter-finals.
The Poles have four points and two more games to play. These will take place during the November international break. First, away to Portugal (November 15), and then, at the end of the group games, at home to Scotland (November 18).
The third place in the group, where the Poles are, means they have to play a play-off with one of the teams from League B to stay among the best in the UEFA Nations League. Fourth position means direct relegation. However, it seems that Scotland should not leapfrog Poland, although the fact is that a lot can still happen in group 1.
