More pensioners will be exempt from tax? A sensational scenario on the table

In the Ministry of Finance, the scenario of a gradual increase in tax -free amount is considered – established “Fakt”. This change would gain, among others A large group of seniors.
Increasing the free amount to 60,000 PLN is one of the main announcements of the pre -election civic coalition from the campaign before the last parliamentary elections in 2023. Let us remind you that currently the free amount is 30,000. PLN, which is the result of the Polish order introduced in 2022 by the Government of Law and Justice. People who earn this amount do not pay PIT at all.
Will there be a gradual increase in tax -free amount?
Politicians of the ruling party – with Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the forefront – make it clear that raising the tax -free amount will be possible at the end of the current term, i.e. in 2027. Meanwhile, as “Fakt” established, the script is taken into account in the Ministry of Finance to raise the free amount gradually, e.g. by 10,000. PLN per year.
As the newspaper notes, such a change would bring benefits to, for example, people working for a minimum wage. It is true that they would still pay PIT, but lower than today. Seniors who collect a pension higher than PLN 2,500 would also gain. Currently, pensions and pensions to such an amount are exempt from tax, and an increase in the amount of free up to 40,000. PLN would cause people to receive up to PLN 3300 gross pension from PIT. The profit from this reform could amount to a maximum of PLN 100 per month.

What will the new president do?
If the rulers decide to increase the tax -free amount, they do not have to worry about the veto of Karol Nawrocki. The future president announced in an interview with Dziennik Gazeta Prawna that he would sign the act in this case, and if he did not receive it in the near future, he would decide to take a legislative initiative.
The increase in tax -free amount is a solution expected by Poles. This is commanded by a SW Research survey for “Wprost” a year ago.
