More peaceful than in the Tatra Mountains. Here you will feel the seaside atmosphere in the mountains
Apart from the most famous Polish resorts, you can also find interesting places to relax. It will be quieter here than in the Tatra Mountains.
The Bieszczady Mountains are usually associated with silence and lonely hikes in the meadows. Many people discover this direction by visiting the “Bieszczady sea” – Lake Solina. However, it should be clarified that the village with the largest artificial retention reservoir in Poland belongs to the Sanocko-Turczańskie Mountains.
The destination combines a mountain climate with a refreshing holiday by the water. The lake is a paradise for water sports fans – there are numerous kayak, pedal boat and sailing boat rental companies around. A large number of attractions in the area make Solina a destination for a longer summer stay in Poland, not just a long August weekend.
Solina attractions for the summer
A must-see in Solina is a walk along the crown of the monumental dam, which rises to a height of 82 meters and offers spectacular views of the surrounding hills.
The Podkarpackie village has undergone a significant metamorphosis in recent years. For those who visited Solina many years ago, the gondola lift stretching over the dam will be a hit. On the 1.5-kilometer route – from Plasza station to Jawor station – you can admire views of the hills and the lake from above. The funicular running near the water was opened in 2022. Tourists have 34 gondolas at their disposal, moving at a speed of 6 m/s. In total, it can transport 1,600 people per hour. There is a Sky Bar on the observation tower, which is open only in the summer season.
Retro train in the Bieszczady Mountains
Families with children can enjoy other attractions in the area. About an hour away from Solina, tourists can take a ride on the Bieszczady Forest Railway. This retro train runs on the highest narrow-gauge line in Poland, surrounded by forests, as if at the end of the world. Here you can board a real train. Steam locomotive trips to Solinka are scheduled from Tuesday to Friday at 10:00 and 12:30.
