More good news about inflation. There is a message

The National Bank of Poland (NBP) presented core inflation data on Thursday. This is an indicator showing prices excluding energy and food prices.

Core inflation was 3% in June. year to year, compared to 3.1 percent a month earlier, which was the highest reading since October last year.

Core inflation also down

Year-on-year inflation:

• after excluding administered prices (subject to state control) it was 2.1%, compared to 2.8%. a month earlier;

• after excluding the most volatile prices, it was 2.8%, compared to 3.3%. a month earlier;

• after excluding food and energy prices it was 3.0%, compared to 3.1%. a month earlier;

• the so-called 15 percent trimmed mean, which eliminates the impact of 15 percent. basket of prices with the lowest and highest dynamics was 2.8%, compared to 3.3%. a month earlier.

Let us recall that on Wednesday the Central Statistical Office (GUS) announced that consumer inflation in June amounted to 2.5%. year to year, compared to 3.1 percent a month earlier. On a month-to-month basis, there was a decline of 0.5%. Thus, the estimated data presented by the Central Statistical Office two weeks ago were confirmed. It is noteworthy that the June inflation was exactly within the NBP target.

Data presented by the Central Statistical Office shows that in relation to June 2025, prices increased the most in the following categories:

• alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (increase by 6.5%),

• education (by 6%),

• recreation, sport and culture (by 5.2%),

• health (by 5%),

• use of an apartment or house, supply of water, electricity, gas and other fuels (by 4.9%).

A decrease was recorded in the “clothing and footwear” category (by 3.1%), home and household equipment (by 1.1%), but also food and non-alcoholic beverages (by 0.2%).
