More bad news about inflation. There is an announcement from the National Bank of Poland
Core inflation in July was 3.1%. year to year, compared to 3 percent a month earlier – reported the National Bank of Poland (NBP).
The National Bank of Poland (NBP) presented core inflation data on Friday. This is an indicator showing prices excluding energy and food prices.
Core inflation was 3.1% in July. year to year, compared to 3 percent a month earlier. Thus, the indicator returned to the level recorded in May, indicating that it was the highest result since October last year.

after excluding administered prices (subject to state control) it was 2.8%, compared to 2.1%. a month earlier;

after excluding the most volatile prices, it was 3.4%, compared to 2.8%. a month earlier;

after excluding food and energy prices it was 3.1%, compared to 3.0%. a month earlier;

the so-called 15 percent trimmed mean, which eliminates the impact of 15 percent. basket of prices with the lowest and highest dynamics, amounted to 2.8%, as in the previous month.
Let us recall that on Thursday the Central Statistical Office (GUS) announced that consumer inflation in July amounted to 3%. year to year, compared to 2.5 percent a month earlier. On a month-to-month basis, there was a decline of 0.8%. Thus, the estimated data presented by the Central Statistical Office two weeks ago were confirmed.
The expiration of the three-month-old Lower Fuel Prices (CPN) package at the beginning of July undoubtedly contributed to the increase in prices. After the package was abolished, fuel prices at stations immediately increased. An increase – compared to June – also occurred in the following categories: recreation, sport and culture. In turn, a decline was recorded, among others, in the area of food and non-alcoholic beverages.
– In July this year compared to the previous month, the greatest impact on the price index of consumer goods and services in general had higher prices in the following areas: transport (by 7.4%), recreation, sports and culture (by 3.6%), and information and communication (by 1.6%), which increased the index by: 0.73 percentage points and 0.23 percentage points, respectively. and 0.08 percentage points Lower prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages (by 0.8%), clothing and footwear (by 4.1%), and personal hygiene, social protection and other goods and services (by 0.4%) reduced this indicator by 0.20 percentage points and 0.15 percentage points, respectively. and 0.02 percentage points – calculated by the Central Statistical Office.
Transport is also the leader when it comes to price comparison compared to July 2025 (an increase of 7%).
