More and more snow in the mountains. Even double-digit frost is coming

The real winter in the Karkonosze Mountains will come sooner than expected. Lots of snow and even double-digit frost are forecast for next week.
The end of the first half of November brought unexpected first snowfalls in Wrocław and other cities in southern Poland. In just a few days, winter will come for good in the Karkonosze Mountains, where forecasts say up to two degrees of frost on the mountain peaks. Although the ski season in the Lower Silesian mountains will officially start between the end of November and the beginning of December, tourists can already wade in the snow on hiking trails. The Karkonosze National Park calls for caution.
Snow and frost will surprise tourists
In the Karkonosze Mountains, after the last snowfall, there will be a thaw again. This state of affairs will not last long, however, because in the next few days tourists must prepare for the real impact of a frosty winter. “Next week, frosts on the peaks are expected to drop to double-digit values and new, larger snow deliveries may appear,” we read. The weather announcement also reminded people to be careful – it may be slippery in many places, while the chains on the trails over the ponds and Śnieżne Kotły have been removed. The park authorities will constantly monitor the rainfall situation and respond if there is an avalanche threat.
Winter in the Tatra Mountains
Mountain lovers are always the first to experience a foretaste of winter. The first snowfall in the Tatra Mountains was observed in the last days of September. At the beginning of November, further changes came into force to prepare tourists for the coldest season of the year. From November 1, the trails in the Tatra National Park close after dark, so you have to plan your mountain trips in the morning. As park employees warn, there is ice in the highest Polish mountains. “Slipping on steep terrain may result in falling from a height,” we read. Given the rapidly changing weather, tourists going to any of the above-mentioned parks should equip themselves with mountain essentials and constantly monitor weather forecasts.
