More and more paid internships in Poland. Especially in these industries

Młody pracownik

Already 9 out of 10 internships on the Polish labor market are paid – according to the analysis No Fluff Jobs. The most internship possibilities are in four industries.

Holidays are a time of rest, but there is no shortage of people who use this time to gain their first professional experience, and therefore take an internship. It turns out that these in most cases are currently paid.

90 percent paid internships in Poland

According to the data of the NO Fluff Jobs advertisement, in the last 1.5 years of the percentage of paid internship offers he fluctuated between 89 percent. and 94 percent depending on the quarter. During this period, the percentage of internship offers on the portal in different quarters ranged from 0.5 percent. up to 2 percent all job ads. They are very popular among candidates (on average, they apply even twice as many people than other job offers).

Most often, interns and interns are offered work on the basis of a mandate contract. Over the past six quarters, they have been half of all internships. The employment contract was offered in just over a quarter of cases, and in 18.5 percent. based on the B2B contract. There are few cases of offers with a specific work contract (only 6 %).

The popularity of mandate contracts in the case of internships probably results from the attractiveness of this form of employment for both interns and interns – often still studying, under the age of 26 – and for employers. In this arrangement, the employer’s cost is equal to net remuneration for an internship person – comments Paulina Król, Chief People and Operations Officer at No Fluff Jobs.

In the case of an employment contract, the employer’s cost is about 38 percent. higher than net salary for an intern or intern. In addition, the mandate contract is easier to terminate if the internship does not turn out to be satisfactory for one of the parties – he adds.

How much can you earn?

Speaking of paid internships, let’s look at the offered rates. These turn out to be quite diverse. In the last six quarters of the median, respectively, the lower and upper wage of salaries have been as follows:

  • In the case of a mandate contract – from 4.5 thousand up to 5.5 thousand PLN gross;

  • In the case of an employment contract – from 4.3 thousand up to 6.5 thousand PLN gross;

  • In the case of a B2B contract – from 4,000 up to 8.4 thous. PLN net (+ VAT);

  • In the case of a specific work contract – from 4.3 thousand up to 5.5 thousand PLN gross.

As you can see, the median of the lower range is similar regardless of the proposed contract, which – as NO Fluff Jobs emphasizes – is a derivative of the current level of minimum wage in Poland. It is also worth remembering that in the case of less popular forms of employment, such as B2B or a specific work contract, a larger number of internship offers than one employer can significantly affect the average amount of the proposed wages of remuneration in a given quarter.

The latest data shows how the social perspective has changed over the years to the issue of rewarding trainees and interns. Many people who started working in the 1990s or after 2000 could not count on it – free internships were standard at that time – emphasizes Paulina Król.

A representative of No Fluff Jobs points out that companies treated internships as “a kind of sacrifice, an investment in their own resources, and enabling development of future employees.” However, this approach is a thing of the past. – Today, we are increasingly ensuring that work is understood as a bilateral benefit and that employees can provide the real value of the organization regardless of the level of experience of the employed person – summarizes the king.

Most interns and interns are sought after in terms of marketing, sales, HR, customer service and finance. The least internship possibilities are in the telecommunications category.
