Moments of terror over the Baltic Sea. An LPR helicopter landed on the beach

A step away from tragedy on a Baltic beach. A 23-year-old man owes his life to other beachgoers who rushed to help.

Holiday season on the Baltic Sea in full. For several days now, the Polish coast has been exceptionally sunny. Good weather conditions have brought crowds of tourists to the beaches. Recordings from webcams show that many Baltic resorts are teeming with colorful beach screens. More beachgoers also mean much more work for the services.

Jantar. 23-year-old drifted in the Baltic Sea. Beachgoers rushed to help

The rescuers from Jantar found out. Just after 3 p.m., the police officer on duty in Nowy Dwór Gdański received a report that beachgoers from Jantar had noticed a young man drifting in the sea. The incident occurred on an unguarded beach. Press officer Karolina Figiel reported that the 23-year-old had been underwater for as long as 20 minutes. Other tourists rushed to help him and managed to pull the man to shore.

The 23-year-old was taken to hospital in serious condition

An ambulance was called to the scene. The rescuers immediately began resuscitation. After almost an hour, they managed to restore the victim’s breathing. However, the 23-year-old was still unconscious. An air ambulance helicopter had to land in the middle of the beach to transport the man to the hospital.

According to police, the 23-year-old was unconscious when the helicopter took him to the facility in Gdańsk. Doctors describe his condition as life-threatening.
