Robert Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski scored a goal and provided an assist, but Leo Messi responded with four goals. MLS stars fought an impressive correspondence duel.

Robert Lewandowski was the hero of Chicago Fire in the away match against Seattle Sounders. The captain of the Polish national team scored a goal and added an assist, and his team made up for losses twice and eventually drew 2-2. The hosts took the lead in the 12th minute after Dejan Joveljić scored. In the 38th minute, Lewandowski helped equalize the score by passing to Maren Haile-Selassie, who shot past the Seattle goalkeeper with an impressive shot from about 15 meters.

Joveljić scored again at the beginning of the second half, but the last word belonged to the Pole. In the 82nd minute, Lewandowski surprised the rival goalkeeper with a clever header almost from the end line and determined the result of the match. It was the 38-year-old striker’s fourth league goal for Chicago Fire. The Pole also scored a goal in the Leagues Cup. The Firemen are third in the Eastern Conference with 37 points after 21 games.

Messi responded to Lewandowski with four goals

The correspondence duel between great strikers brought an even more spectacular response from Lionel Messi. The Argentine scored four goals and Inter Miami defeated CF Montreal 7-1. It was Messi’s first four-goal performance in MLS.

The 39-year-old started scoring in the 40th minute with a free kick. The ball changed direction after contact with defender Luca Petrasso, but the goal was officially credited to the Argentine. After the break, Messi scored three more times. He scored the result in the sixth minute of added time, again directly from a free kick.
