Microsoft outage hits Poland. Prime Minister talks about state security
The global Microsoft system failure that is paralyzing the entire world has reached Poland. It is being felt at some airports, among other places. Donald Tusk has spoken out on the matter.
The effects of the outage are being felt, among others, at the airport in Kraków. – There are indeed problems with the check-in system of some carriers – Natalia Vince, spokeswoman for Kraków-Balice Airport, told Interia.
She added, however, that this has no major impact on air traffic for now. “Airline service has implemented manual passenger service in connection with this. This has not caused any disruption to air connections so far. We have simply switched to manual control,” the spokeswoman said.
Chopin Airport on check-in problems
Warsaw Chopin Airport reported that there are difficulties in serving passengers of the popular Wizz Air. The problem concerns the check-in system and the lack of the possibility of online check-in. The carrier asks to arrive at the airport three hours before departure to check in at the counter.
The airport also urges passengers to check current information and flight status directly on the carriers’ websites.
Urgent Ryanair Information
Ryanair, which is also one of the largest operators on the Polish market, also issued a statement. “We are currently experiencing network disruptions due to a global third-party IT failure, which is completely beyond our control,” the airline confirmed.
The way the airline is currently operating has been changed. “Booking and check-in are currently unavailable. If you are travelling today (July 19) and have not yet checked in for your flight, you can do so at the airport,” Ryanair said.
Poznań-Ławica ready to help
The airports in Gdańsk and Poznań did not record any major disruptions. However, both do not rule out that they may be affected, so they also appeal to check the information on the airline’s websites and go to the airport well in advance of departure.
In addition, the Poznań-Ławica airport declares that it is prepared to act as a substitute for airports from other countries. – We are prepared to provide assistance within the framework of backup airports for airports that may be struggling with this problem – the airport spokesman told Polsat News.
Problems of the Baltic Hub container terminal in Gdańsk
Earlier, almost from the very beginning of Microsoft’s global outage, the container terminal in Gdańsk reported major problems. “We are struggling with a global outage of Microsoft operating systems, which is hampering our operations,” the Baltic Hub terminal wrote in a statement.
Part of the terminal services have been closed. The gates for the entry of empty EVG containers have been closed. This applies to both road and rail gates. “We will inform you immediately as soon as the failure is removed, please do not head for the Terminal,” they appealed.
Government responds to Microsoft’s global outage
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski commented on the failure. “Currently, critical infrastructure systems in Poland are operating smoothly,” the government representative assured.
And further. “The global outage of Microsoft systems is being monitored by Polish cybersecurity services. We will keep you updated on the situation, and at the moment there is no cause for concern,” we read.
Donald Tusk: I am kept informed
Prime Minister Donald Tusk has spoken out on the global Microsoft outage. “Due to the global outage in Microsoft systems, I am being kept up to date by our services at the provincial and national levels about all events resulting from the outage.
