Michał Winiarski thrown out of the tournament! The nightmare of the Germans became a fact
The Germans dropped out of the volleyball world championship! The team led by coach Michał Winiarski lost their decisive match with Slovenia 1: 3.
After two queues of the World Cup in the Philippines it became clear that one of the two strong European teams – Slovenia or Germany – would not play in the knockout phase. The direct clash of both teams closed the Wednesday series of tournament games.
The head of our western neighbors is coach Michał Winiarski. In the past, a great volleyball player (including the 2014 world champion), and currently the coach of Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie.
World Cup: Michał Winiarski eliminated! The Germans lost the match for everything
The Germans during the 2025 World Cup did not present a sufficiently solid form, from which they were known in previous representative seasons. Winiarski team, paradoxically, played their best match against Slovenia. On the other side of the net, however, a team stood, which is very experienced and even having a lot of staffing problems, was able to tip the scales of victory to their side in key moments.
The German team may regret unused opportunities, especially in the third set at 1: 1 in the match. Slovenes kept in the game for more cold blood, ultimately winning this installment 29:31. Georg Rozeri did not have his day. The German captain disappointed the most, ending the meeting in a square for reserve, with only eight points on the account. This is not how it is impossible to compete for a place in the 1/8 finals of the world championship.
Slovenia can breathe for that. After a defeat with Bulgaria (2: 3), the Slovenian team once again proved that they can extend the formation at the key moments of tournaments. In the 1/8 finals Slovenia will face the USA. And it must be admitted that it is not said that Americans are 100 % favorites of this competition.
Where and when to watch the next match of the Polish volleyball team?
