May Day is more important than PIT? There are so many Poles who have not settled their accounts yet

e-PIT

Although Poles have little time to settle their taxes, many of them leave it until the last minute. A large group probably won’t even look at their tax returns.

Remember to settle your PIT by April 30. Don’t leave your settlement until the last minute. Take advantage of the facilities offered by Your e-PIT service today – An appeal of this nature was issued by the Ministry of Finance a week ago.

PIT settlement at the last minute

However, millions of Poles leave settlements with the tax office until the last minute. Although taxpayers have had such an opportunity since February 15, so far – as shown by data sent to “Wprost” by the Ministry of Finance – almost 15 million declarations for 2025 have been submitted (as of April 25). This means that approximately 10 million Poles have not done it yet.

Let us recall that a year ago, Poles submitted 24.8 million PIT returns for 2024. 23.6 million of them (95%) were submitted electronically, and only 1.2 million in paper form. Taxpayers accepted almost 8.3 million returns independently, while 6 million were accepted automatically in the Your e-PIT service. The latter group of taxpayers was not interested in their tax return for 2024 and relied on the calculations prepared by the Tax Office. It seems that a similar number of people do not intend to look at their testimony this time either.

The head of the National Tax Administration (KAS), Marcin Łoboda, reminds that people who have doubts about how to settle their PIT can use the helpline support. – Our hotline allows you to contact employees of tax offices and the National Tax Information under one telephone number. We serve up to 20,000. calls per day. I encourage you to use the knowledge of our experts – says Łoboda.

On April 20-24 and April 27-30, the KAS Helpline provides information on PIT settlement during extended working hours – from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Detailed information on PIT settlement can be found on the website tax.gov.pl. You can also ask questions online via this website – by e-mail and chat.

Tax offices also provide support for people settling PIT. Taxpayers can, among others: electronically book an appointment at a selected office, on a specific day and at a selected time on the website dziennika.podatki.gov.pl. You can also make an appointment via the e-Urząd Skarbowy (e-US) mobile application.
