Marina Łuczenko-Szczęsna showed the damage after the flood. A drama is taking place in her town
Wojciech Szczęsny and his family have been living in Spain for several weeks. Now the footballer’s wife has shown the destruction that the water caused in their town.
Eastern Spain is struggling with the tragic consequences of one of the heaviest floods in the country’s history. It is known that over 200 people died as a result, which is over 20 times more than in the flood of September 2024 in Poland. The local media claim that, apart from the violence of the phenomenon, the high number of victims was caused by friction between the government and the opposing authorities of the Valencia region.
Experts say that currently the most difficult situation is in Catalonia, where the heaviest rainfall continues. Water has already flooded El Prat airport and coastal towns. Meteorologists announced a red alert there, and residents, among others, Garraf, Barcelones and Castelldefels received notices from authorities asking them to exercise caution. It is in the last of these towns that famous Polish football players and their families live.
Marina Łuczenko-Szczęsna about the flood in Spain
Robert Lewandowski and Wojciech Szczęsny with their loved ones live in the town of Castelldefels, which was affected by the flood. First, Anna Lewandowska showed its effects on social media, revealing that the parking lot of her property was several centimeters under water. Now Marina Łuczenko-Szczęsna has also presented the scale of destruction.
On her Instagram account, the 35-year-old showed flooded streets and cars that could not move on the roads. It also published videos in which Internet users can see that some buildings are underwater. Moreover, she revealed that the beach was completely destroyed and the pier in Castelldefels was collapsed. “I didn’t let Liamek go to school, we received alerts. And this is our region,” wrote Łuczenko-Szczęsna.
It is worth adding that the weather forecasts give hope that the situation will calm down. Already on Tuesday, there will be clearings and breaks in rainfall, which – although it is expected to appear for a few more days – will not be so intense. Currently, everyone is focused on rescue operations and helping citizens. There are 7,500 soldiers operating in the devastated areas, distributing water and food and protecting against robbers, as well as 100,000 volunteers helping the local population clean the streets, clean up private properties and pump water from garages and basements.
