Marginal pension with minimal insurance internship. By peas

Grosze

Penny pensions arrives at a puzzling pace. Their payment once a quarter does not solve the problem. Perhaps a minimal insurance internship will be a solution.

The lowest penny pension in Poland is 2 grosze. That’s how much a woman from Biłgoraj receives, who worked only one day in her professional life.

Bezing pensions are lower than the lowest statutory amount of pension, i.e. currently PLN 1878.91. They are received by people with incomplete insurance internship. It is the seniority (20 years for women and 25 years for men) that decides in the retirement system in force in Poland whether the benefit will be increased to the amount of the lowest pension or not.

Hunger pensions are the participation of women and more and more men

Pensions or even hunger pensions spend their night’s sleep because there are more and more of them. In 2024, 433.1 thousand such hunger benefits were already paid. It’s over 9.2 percent more than in 2023 (396.9 thousand) – according to the ZUS report.

Over the past 14 years, the number of hunger pensions has increased more than eighteen times, and their share in the number of pensions paid from the new pension system has increased from 4.2 percent. In December 2011, to 9.9 percent in December 2024.

In recent years, among people with penny pensions, women have definitely prevailed – they accounted for 77.4 percent. The total, but also the percentage of men receiving a pension in an amount lower than the lowest is also systematically increasing: in December 2014 they constituted 1.2 percent, in December 2015 – 5 percent, in December 2022 – 19.8 percent, in December 2023 – 21.3 percent, and in December 2024 – 22.6 percent. – he meticulously lists in the ZUS report. The number of hunger benefits recipients will also be enlarged by foreigners who have already paid even one premium to ZUS.

More difficult to receive the right to a pension

The drug for the situation according to Dr. Tomasz Lasocki from the Department of Administration and Social Sciences of the Warsaw University of Technology, as well as an expert of the Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs, would be to determine the “right to retirement”, i.e. an earning benefit of a value corresponding to, for example, 1/3 of the minimum pension – otherwise marginal pension.

– Today we give pensions to “random” – it is one that paid any contributions once. And this is not about paying a dozen or so pennies of pensions, but about benefits in general – explains Dr. Tomasz Lasocki in Prawa.pl.

Another solution is the creation of a zero pillar. The idea was accurately described by infotuba.pl.
