Marek Papszun triumphed over Legia Warsaw. Raków Częstochowa snatched success
Raków Częstochowa won 1-0 against Legia Warsaw in Sunday’s PKO BP Ekstraklasa hit. The winning goal for Częstochowa was scored by Jean Carlos.
The teams that will be fighting for the highest goals this season met in Warsaw. At least on paper, it looks like both Legia Warsaw and Raków Częstochowa are aiming for the Polish championship – looking at the teams’ built squads and budget possibilities.
As it turned out, the team that came from Częstochowa was better on Sunday evening. Raków dealt one blow, but it was enough to defeat the team of coach Goncalo Feio. A man who worked at Jasna Góra, but this time he did not find a way to deal with his former employer.
Legia Warsaw – Raków Częstochowa. Marek Papszun triumphs in the hit!
The match in the capital had its drama. Raków scored a goal in the first half after a goal by Jean Carlos. However, it must be admitted that Legia also had its opportunities, both to open the score and to equalize the score. However, the Warsaw team seemed to be a bit overwhelmed by the stakes of the match, at least looking at the indolence of the Częstochowa team in front of the goal.
Another thing is that neither team was particularly good at hitting their shots, and the fight was more about the number of cards received for fouls than about actual, spectacular plays. It seems that Legia was more drawn into the conditions that suited the visitors.
The hosts received five yellow cards and one red card. The latter did not affect the events on the pitch, because Arkadiusz Malarz, the goalkeeping coach, was thrown out of the bench. The former Legia goalkeeper could not stand one of the decisions of Jarosław Przybył, the main referee of the match. Although it must be admitted that at that moment the referee spared Legia a bit. Bartosz Kapustka received only a yellow card for hitting an opponent in the face with his elbow – accidentally, but still.
All things considered, Legia lost their second match of the season and remained in fourth place in the table. Raków, thanks to their victory in Warsaw, jumped to Sunday’s opponent. Częstochowa is in fifth place, with exactly the same number of points as Legia. Lech Poznań remains the leader. Poznań defeated the current Polish champions, Jagiellonia Białystok, 5-0 over the weekend.
