The match between PGE Projekt Warszawa and ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle ended in three sets. The Italian will certainly have a lot of work to do so that ZAKSA starts to count in such big matches.

PlusLiga: Marcin Janusz on the unfortunate injury of Bartosz Kurek

There is no doubt, however, that ZAKSA suffered a serious blow in Warsaw at the very beginning of the match. Bartosz Kurek was injured. The ZAKSA captain was unfortunately hit in the face, around the eye, by a ball in the first set.

After the physiotherapist’s intervention, “Kuraś” finally left the pitch and then left the locker room for additional tests, outside the Torwar hall.

– I hope that this injury won’t be as serious as it looked. And Bartek will come back to us soon. Injuries are an inherent part of sport. And we have to adapt. If our leader had to leave the court at the beginning of the first set, Mateusz Rećko is coming in today and playing really great. He is also ready to play in the first team and fight for the highest goals. Of course, we hope that Bartek will come back to us soon, because I don’t have to say how important a figure he is to all of us – admitted Marcin Janusz after the match with PGE Projekt Warszawa.

How common are these types of ball hits to the face in the life of a professional volleyball player?

– There’s not a week that goes by when one of us doesn’t get hit hard. That’s how you play volleyball, you have to stand quite close to defend. And sometimes that ball hits you in the face. That’s pretty normal. It’s a huge misfortune that it scraped like that. That it damaged Bartek’s eye to some extent. But I hope it’s not that serious – added the ZAKSA volleyball player.
