Flood in Poland

For example, Jakub Błaszczykowski, who announced that the Ludzki Gest Foundation he founded will donate a quarter of a million zlotys to help combat the effects of the element in southern Poland.

“In connection with the tragic events that have taken place in our country in recent days, the Human Gesture Foundation is providing financial support in the form of a quarter of a million złoty (PLN 250,000) to help combat the effects of the flood. Every cataclysm has its tragic consequences, every smallest gesture has great power. Together we can support the reconstruction and restore hope to those who have experienced such great losses…” – he wrote.

Maja Włoszczowska: The situation is dramatic

During this difficult time, many people have lost their property and are facing many problems. Maja Włoszczowska, a former mountain biker who is associated with Zielona Góra, spoke about this topic. Her mother runs the company Quest, which produces sportswear.

– The situation in Jelenia Góra is dramatic. People are losing their homes and lifelong possessions. Unfortunately, I am not there at the moment, I will arrive on Tuesday and I hope that I will be able to help with the clean-up after the flood. My closest family is still there. There have been small floods before, but until now sandbags were enough. Unfortunately, this time the scale of the disaster is unimaginable – she said in an interview with “Przegląd Sportowy” Onet.

– We had to close the shop and the sewing room. All employees are now saving our factory. The downtime in production will be enormous, but now it is crucial to save the equipment. We produce several hundred thousand sportswear items per year. We have customers in Poland, but mainly abroad. The downtime in production is a big problem at the moment, but definitely not the biggest one – she added.

Maja Włoszczowska: We are also fighting to save jobs

The sportswoman reported that in the production hall, where the most important machines are located, the water is knee-deep. “We have 160 employees who support themselves by working in our factory. So we are fighting to save the company, to maintain jobs and sources of income for our employees. For now, we do not know exactly what losses we are talking about,” Włoszczowska admits.

– The anxiety is enormous. We are fighting not only for the company, but also for preserving jobs that support over a hundred families. Currently, any scenario is likely – says Włoszczowska.
