Maja Chwalińska did not manage to finish her dream tournament with a triumph. In the French Open final, the Pole lost to Mirra Andreejeva 3:6, 2:6.
Saturday’s final at Roland Garros was one of the most important matches in Maja Chwalińska’s career so far. For the first time, the Pole took part in the decisive match of a tournament of this rank and had a chance to win the prestigious title. On the other side of the net stood 19-year-old Mirra Andreeva. The Russian also advanced to the final of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time.

After the Pole took the lead, however, Andreeva took over the initiative. The Russian began to play more and more confidently and won the next four games, reversing the fate of the first set.
The game ended with the score 6:3 for Andreeva after 44 minutes of play. The end of the set in particular showed the advantage of the Russian tennis player, who quickly decided the last two games in her favor.

The second part of the match was dictated by the Russian. Andreeva maintained a high pace of play and effectively exploited her opponent’s mistakes.
Chwalińska tried to start a fight, but she was unable to change the fate of the match. The second set ended with a score of 6:2 for Andreeva, who claimed the final victory.
Despite the defeat, the French Open final remains a huge success for Maja Chwalińska. Advancing to the decisive match of one of the most important tennis tournaments in the world is the best confirmation of her sporting potential and one of the most important moments in the Pole’s career so far.
