Maja Chwalińska appreciated in London. Great news ahead of Wimbledon!

In addition to the number 3 of the WTA ranking straight from Poland, i.e. Iga Świątek, among the women who are certain to start in Wimbledon are Magdalena Fręch, Magda Linette and Maja Chwalińska, who received the so-called wild card.

Interestingly, the finalist of Roland Garros 2026 was appreciated by the organizers not only by the fact of being in the main tournament bracket, but also by her high seeding. Chwalińska will play at Wimbledon as number 20.

However, it must be openly emphasized that the fact that the number 20 next to the name of the Polish tennis player is the result of the person concerned. Chwalińska thanks to the points scored on the courts. Roland Garros, saw a huge advancement in the WTA ranking. Let us remind you that the Pole came to the capital of France as the tennis player number 114 on the world lists.

Now Chwalińska is in 21st place in the WTA ranking. Let us add that Świątek – the defending champion from Wimbledon 2025 – received number 3 next to her name in the tournament ladder.

Threat before the draw? The biggest one should be seen in the context of Jelena Ostapenko. The Latvian is not among the seeded tennis players, so there is a risk that she will be among the current best 32. Ostapenko is the number 34 racket in the world, but the worse news is that the Latvian representative has a license for Świątek. She is undefeated in matches against the Pole, and the 2025 Wimbledon champion has… only bad memories with this player.

It is worth adding that two more Polish representatives – Linda Klimovicova and Katarzyna Kawa – will fight for their chance to get into the main tournament bracket in the qualifications.

Speaking of men, Poland will be represented by the traditional duo: Hubert Hurkacz and Kamil Majchrzak. The latter is having a great time, having just won his first ATP tournament in his career. The tennis player from Piotrków Trybunalski chose ‘s-Hertogenbosch (ATP 250) in the Netherlands.

And let’s remember that in the case of Hurkacz, we are talking about a Wimbledon semi-finalist from 2021. However, the tennis player from Wrocław has bittersweet memories of the London tournament. On the one hand, it was a real success from five (!) years ago, but on the other hand, a terrible injury suffered on London grass, which greatly complicated the career of the Polish player. This took place in 2024.
