Maja Chwalińska and a big question mark. Disturbing signals

Maja Chwalińska

Maja Chwalińska ended her participation in Wimbledon 2026 in the first round. The Polish woman’s health problems turned out to be so serious that they did not allow for success.

Maja Chwalińska lost to Thai Mananchayana Sawangkaewa, suffering an injury while playing the match ball. From that moment on, the match took a completely different direction, and the score of 5:2 in the second set became… 5:7 to the detriment of the Pole.

The third edition was only a consequence of the earlier, unfortunate events for the Pole.

What about Maja Chwalińska’s health? The latest news is disturbing!

At the beginning of July, we informed about the health situation of the finalist of Roland Garros 2026. Chwalińska allegedly had not only ankle problems, but also cramps, which made it very difficult to move properly on the court in London. In such circumstances, there was no chance for a good result at this year’s Wimbledon.

So when will Chwalińska appear on the court again? Unfortunately, there is no clear declaration. On Wednesday (i.e. July 8), information appeared via TVP Sport – from the tennis player’s manager Piotr Szczypka – where his player will play. Although it was not clear, as the Polish woman’s withdrawal from the upcoming WTA 250 tournament in Iasi had already been announced earlier. The competition on Romanian courts is scheduled to start on July 13.

The next challenge was to be the start in Hamburg. A special treat for fans from Poland, due to the close distance. The tournament in Germany is scheduled to start on July 20. Szczypka admitted that Chwalińska’s start is not certain yet.

So what can be taken for granted? The 25-year-old Pole is expected to appear at tournaments that will prepare her for this year’s last representative of the so-called The Grand Slam, i.e. the US Open. Chwalińska plans to start, among others, in Toronto. The Canadian competition starts on August 3. As you can see, the period without an official match for the Polish player is still getting longer.

We can only hope that these are preventive actions aimed at real, good preparation for the return to the season played on hard courts. The aforementioned Grand Slam US Open will start on August 31.
