Magda Linette opened up to others. A moving entry from a tennis player

Magda Linette

This is the end of the 2025 season for Magda Linette. The tennis player from Poznań announced her decision via social media.

There is no doubt that it was not a successful season for Magda Linette. The Pole ends 2025 with a minus in terms of the balance of matches played. In 45 matches, the Poznań player achieved 21 victories and 24 defeats.

Magda Linette with a special confession. “And that would be it for the end.”

At the end of August this year, we informed about the extremely unfavorable balance of the Polish woman’s performances in Grand Slam tournaments. Linette has been waiting for over two years for… any Grand Slam victory, looking at the singles game.

The last time the Poznań player won a singles match at a Grand Slam was during the US Open 2023, where she reached the second round. Since then, the Pole has suffered eight more defeats, including two defeats each at the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open.

The 33-year-old Pole is in 56th place in the WTA rankings in mid-October. In her career, Linette’s highest position was number 19. On Wednesday (i.e. October 15), the Poznań player announced that she was ending the 2025 season.

And that would be it. I finish and commit another season to my memory. There’s been a lot of talk lately about intensity, the calendar, and pressure. But I also try to think about gratitude more and more often. To treat every start, every flight, every match not only as an obligation, but as a privilege. With each passing year I understand more and more that strength does not always mean pace. That I have the right to be tired. My lesson for the coming weeks – the ability to say to yourself: “I will rest now.” And to do it without feeling guilty. Will it work? I’m going home. To the people who remind me who I am when I don’t have a racket in my hand. Because only then can I miss the court again, the competition, all that is most beautiful in this sport, the Pole said via social media on Wednesday morning.

It is worth recalling that at the beginning of 2023, the Poznań player reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open Grand Slam. That season was extremely successful for the Pole, because Linette also reached the third round of Wimbledon.

Currently, Linette is the second highest-ranked tennis player from Poland after Iga Świątek.
