In the very center of Beyoğlu, the second oldest district of Istanbul, stands a restored building that now houses Casa Foscolo Hotel. Its history dates back to 1890-1900, when it served as a pioneering apart-hotel for Foscolo Mango & Co. Ltd., founded by the Venetian Foscolo family. In the 1930s, the space was transformed – there was a restaurant on the ground floor, and the upper floors were occupied by offices. Today, this historic building, renovated under the supervision of Emre Kuzlu, invites visitors to experience Istanbul’s contemporary culture in a historic setting.
Design that brings the past to life
The renovation of Casa Foscolo is an example of a harmonious combination of history and modernity. Behind the restored neoclassical facade there are original details such as high ceilings, stone walls, spiral staircases and oriental motifs decorating the lobby. Particular attention was paid to materials – wooden doors, marble stairs and floors were reused, giving the interiors a unique character.
Warm pastel shades, hand-made mosaics, ceramics and natural wood add elegance and coherence to the interior. In the lobby, cleaned brick creates a cozy and modern atmosphere.
Wherever you go, there is art
Casa Foscolo Hotel is also distinguished by the presence of contemporary art. Paintings by local artists and sculptures decorate both standard rooms and luxury suites. Each of the 18 rooms has retained the original character of the place – most of them offer living space, kitchenettes and bedrooms. Bathrooms are dominated by light colors, ceramics and green accents, creating an atmosphere of peace and relaxation.
Relaxation and art zone
Level B1 of Casa Foscolo is a place for meetings and relaxation. There is an art gallery, Minoa Library and a coworking space. The library encourages guests to relax over coffee and read, offering books to borrow or buy. There are also rotating exhibitions of works by local and international artists.
