Łukasz Piszczek stopped Robert Lewandowski. Polish star without a goal!

Robert Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski was on almost everyone’s lips during the match between Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona. The Pole returned to BVB territory, but did not score a goal.

Before Wednesday’s Champions League match in Dortmund, the Pole could boast of a great record in matches against BVB. Since Robert Lewandowski left Borussia, he scored as many as 27 goals in 26 matches against his former employer. It was in the clashes with BVB that “Lewy” felt the best in his career – being the most effective.

Robert Lewandowski without a goal in a special match in Dortmund

The Pole scored all of the above-mentioned goals while playing for Bayern Munich. This time, “Lewy” came to the BVB stadium as the most effective player of the current LaLiga campaigns (16 goals in 16 matches) and the leader of the Champions League scorers’ classification (7 goals in 5 appearances).

However, “Lewy” will not remember Wednesday’s match in the Champions League well, looking at his individual achievements. The Pole spent 70 minutes on the pitch and did not manage to get on the scoresheet. It can therefore be said that Łukasz Piszczek, the assistant – or rather the “right hand” – of the first BVB coach, Nuri Sahin, found a way to defeat the “Lewy”. BVB excluded the most dangerous striker of the Pride of Catalonia from the game.

The Pole did not improve his shooting achievements, but his colleagues took matters into their own hands. When RL9 left the pitch, the score was 1-1.

A moment later it was 2-1 for Barca, and the goals this time were scored by Raphinha (the sixth goal in this edition of the Champions League) and Ferran Torres. The latter, four minutes earlier, before his goal, entered the field for… Lewandowski. However, the hosts managed to equalize for the second time, previously from 0-1 to 1-1, and then from 1-2 to 2-2.

But what good is it – from the hosts’ perspective – if Barca dealt another blow. Thanks to Torres again! A great counterattack in the 85th minute, which the Spaniard converted into a goal.

100 goals for “Lewy” in the Champions League. He joined Cristiano and Messi!

It is worth recalling that in the last Champions League match, where Barca’s rival was the French Stade Brest, the Polish striker scored a double. It was important because for Lewandowski these were goals number 100 and 101 in the history of his performances in the most prestigious club competitions, UEFA.

Cristiano Ronaldo has the most goals in the history of the Champions League. The Portuguese scored for three clubs: Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. In total, the player who currently plays in the Saudi league has scored 140 goals. The Portuguese needed 183 matches for this.

The runner-up is Lionel Messi. The Argentine scored a total of 129 times for FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. Messi played in 163 matches.

Lewandowski needed 125 matches to score 101 goals. In addition to scoring goals for Barcelona, the Pole also scored goals in the Champions League for Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. What can you hide, Lewandowski is already a legend of world football.
