This place of rest is popular with the residents of Katowice, and the area has recently been renovated and enriched with new attractions. It was officially opened on July 11.
Katowice Beach After Change. What’s Waiting for Guests?
The Katowice Nasze Miasto portal reports that the investment cost almost PLN 12.9 million and enabled the opening of a new swimming pool with complete facilities and a new parking lot and alleys in the southern part of the area. Thanks to this, Katowice residents and tourists will be able to relax in a new and comfortable space. Lifeguards will watch over their safety.
“The place has retained some of its wild character, and it is now safe, with lifeguards, benches to sit on, a playground for children and toilets,” encouraged officials on the official Facebook profile of the city of Katowice.
On the northern shore of the pond there is also a space for active recreation and a catering zone.
– There are tables covered with sunshades near the food truck area, a playground and a beach volleyball court, and there is also a barbecue shelter – said Grzegorz Baran, co-owner of Bako Sport G. Baran, R. Koziołek, which carried out the investment.
“If you want to get to Morawa Pond by public transport, there is a tram stop near the new beach called “Szopienice Dolina Pięciu Stawów”. Is it crowded here? Probably on the weekend, the photos are from Friday, early afternoon” – the author of the blog Frantki Wędrowniczki – Śląskie, okolice i inne encouraged people to visit the beach.
He added that the beach on the northern shore is not the only one on Morawa Pond. Beachgoers can also swim on the southeastern shore of the pond, where there are lighted paths, a pier and a barbecue area.
