Limits of tourists under the famous fountain. The authorities in Rome are planning changes

The famous Italian Trevi Fountain has been attracting crowds for years. The situation is about to change soon. The authorities intend to strictly control the flow of visitors.
What would a trip to Rome be like if we missed the visit to the Trevi Fountain? Almost every tourist asks this question, which is why crowds often line up at this place. This location has been repeatedly considered dangerous because pickpockets and other thieves take advantage of the chaos there. The Italian authorities intend to solve the problem.
Trevi Fountain without crowds?
The Trevi Fountain will completely change its appearance. This is all due to the limits that are to be introduced on site soon. Only a limited number of people will be allowed under the facility. However, no details have been provided on this matter yet. If you want to get to the monument, you will have to wait patiently for your turn.
The authorities of Rym take a positive view not only of the introduced visitor limits. They are also thinking about selling admission tickets and entry for a small fee. However, such changes would be introduced only later.
Work on implementing the latest changes has already started. On Monday, October 7, extraordinary conservation activities for the monument began. Transparent panels will be placed around it so that tourists can still see the fountain.
In about a month, we will see a special walking platform in the area from which we will be able to admire the monument. This is when the limit of people staying on the platform at one time will be set.
Tourists must remember the rules
Tourists visiting the famous fountain must remember many rules there. Apart from the upcoming restrictions related to the limits, there is a complete ban on eating meals there. Currently, you can mainly stand in front of the facility, but soon you will also be able to sit down.
Tourists can make the symbolic gesture of throwing a coin into the water at all times. When the platform appears, we will do it only from it. The Roman authorities will install a special basket there.
Rome takes these rules very seriously and wants them all to be clearly defined before the start of the famous Holy Year 2025. We would like to remind you that the ceremonial opening will take place on December 24. The city is preparing to welcome up to 30 million tourists, so only defining rules can prevent excessive chaos.
