Lewandowski noticed the hosts’ “trick” before the Malta-Poland match. Unrest in Barcelona

Robert Lewandowski

On Monday, November 17, the Polish national football team will face their rivals from Malta. The much lower rated opponent does not give up and uses a trick that he used, among others. Mourinho.

In the matches led by Jan Urban, Poland showed that they can play technical and visually pleasing football. Two draws with the Netherlands gave food for thought to the remaining rivals of our national team. However, Malta, doomed to be devoured, does not intend to give up without a fight and uses all methods to increase its chances.

Malta – Poland. Lewandowski noticed longer grass

As Polish players noticed, Monday’s opponents decided to leave the taller grass. There is a video circulating online of Robert Lewandowski, who, right after entering the pitch, leans down to assess the condition of the surface up close. Then the captain of the national team exchanges remarks with his teammates, probably commenting on the unusual height of the grass.

This type of solution is intended to make playing the ball on the ground less comfortable. This makes the game more difficult for technically gifted players and players in general who are used to the best European pitches. Interestingly, a similar maneuver was used by, among others, Jose Mourinho when his Real Madrid faced FC Barcelona with Leo Messi in the squad.

Unrest in Barcelona. It’s about the Poland vs. Malta match

Catalan journalists do not hide that they are afraid of injuries due to the higher grass. Of course, they are especially interested in Robert Lewandowski’s health. The local “Sport” reports it in a short description.

“Unexpected confusion stirred the Polish team. Robert Lewandowski showed signs of dissatisfaction and concern before the match,” we can read.

“It was supposed to be an ordinary training session, but it brought cause for concern. The Barcelona striker could not hide his surprise when he saw the unevenness of the pitch, especially the height of the grass, which seemed to be poorly maintained,” add the Spanish journalists.
