Leo Messi's Horrible Injury. The Argentinean Speaks Out

Lionel Messi had a tough time during the Copa America final, with the Argentina captain leaving the pitch with an injury. Now he has published a long message on social media.

The Argentine national team was the main favorite to win the Copa America. The Albicelestes fulfilled this role perfectly. They reached the grand final, where they defeated Colombia 1-0 after extra time. Lautaro Martinez brought great happiness to the world champions. When he scored the goal, Lionel Messi was no longer on the pitch.

Lionel Messi’s nasty injury

In the 66th minute, one of the greatest footballers in history had to leave the pitch. All because he injured his ankle. Messi left the pitch in tears because he was very keen to continue giving the team as much as possible from the pitch perspective.

Then, when the TV cameras zoomed in on Messi’s leg, his ankle was badly swollen. The 37-year-old had trouble moving properly, and a grimace of pain was visible on his face. At first, it seemed that he would be out of action for a long time. However, it seems that this will not be a tragedy.

Messi speaks out after injury

Shortly after the Copa America final, the Argentine captain published a long post on Instagram. He wrote not only about the injury, but above all about his teammates.

“The Copa America is over and first of all I want to thank everyone for their messages and greetings. Thank God I am well and I hope that soon I will be able to get back on the pitch, enjoying what I like to do the most. I am very happy, especially that we have achieved the intended goal and Fide (Angelo di Maria’s nickname – editor’s note) leaves us with another trophy. The older players, like him, Otamendi and me, experienced it with special emotions, with other teammates who have already played in several tournaments and also added their experience, and with a group of young people who give their all with every ball,” wrote Lionel Messi in the first part of the post.

“We are a team, but also a family, a unique group. Thank you to everyone who supported us, this team has a great present and future ahead of it. Go Argentina!” he added in an emotional post.

Let us just recall that thanks to winning the Copa America, Messi already has 45 trophies to his name, counting club and national team football, which makes him the most decorated footballer in history.
