Leo Beenhakker is dead. He was the coach of the Polish national team

Leo Beenhakker died at the age of 82. Former coach of the Polish football team, among others He introduced the staff to Euro 2008.

The Dutchman was the first foreign trainer in the history of the Polish football team. His greatest success in work for Polish football also concerned historical achievement. Leo Beenhakker first introduced Poland to a European championship party. Poles performed at Euro 2008, organized in Austria and Switzerland.
Such art had not previously succeeded in any other selector, headed by the great medalists of the World Cup – Kazimierz Górski and Antoni Piechniczek. Beenhakker was the first to introduce Poland to the European Championships.

The Polish perspective, however, is just a piece of achievements that Beenhakker had. A midfielder from Rotterdam from 1942 – as a footballer he did not make a dizzying career. However, he found himself well as a trainer.
As a coach, Beenhakker won championship titles, including Together with Ajax Amsterdam or Real Madrid. In the first case, we are talking about the two Championships of the Netherlands, and in Spain together with the royal, he was second to none.
Beenhakker also added a national championship with a team from the city where he was born. I am talking about Feyenoord Rotterdam. He became the Champion of the Netherlands in the 1998/99 season. In the Feyenoord team he led, among others Two Poles, defender Tomasz Rząba and goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek.
Already in the role of a man responsible for the representation, he worked in his homeland, conducting Dutch twice in 1985-86 and 1990. Before taking over the Polish national team, Beenhakker qualified for the first time in history with the Trinidad and Tobago team for the World Championships. It was a tournament in Germany in 2006.
The coach of the Polish national team Beenhakker was in 2006-09. During the euro 2008, the Polish team lost to Germany, drew to Austria and came down from the field again – at the end of the group playing with Croatia.
The Dutchman announced his retirement on June 2, 2015.
