Otylia Jędrzejczak i Sławomir Nitras

Otylia Jędrzejczak, a legend of Polish swimming and currently vice-president of the Polish Olympic Committee, spoke about the situation between the Polish Olympic Committee and MSiT. – The good name of this organization has been crushed – he believes.

Some time ago, the Supreme Audit Office confirmed that an audit would be held at the Polish Olympic Committee, the aim of which was to determine the scale of public financing transferred to the Polish Olympic Committee, as well as to answer the question whether the Polish Olympic Committee was properly implementing contracts financed from public funds.

Otylia Jędrzejczak: The good name of this organization has been crushed

He appealed for this, among others. Sławomir NItras, Minister of Sport and Tourism. The head of MSiT and Radosław Piesiewicz, the president of the Polish Olympic Committee, have a clearly visible conflict. Otylia Jędrzejczak, vice-president of the committee and president of the Polish Swimming Association, commented on this topic in WP SportoweFakty.

– It is important for institutions to cooperate with each other. The winter games are coming soon and we should probably be entering the planning and preparation phase soon. We know that everything is a bit on hold now, especially for Polish sports associations, which are in the election period in their own communities. It’s a hot time, so it’s not surprising that other matters get sidetracked, she admitted.

– In fact, it is now crucial for unions to resolve internal elections. What will happen next in Polish sport will depend on this. However, the situation of the Polish Olympic Committee is important because the good name of this organization has been crushed. Fortunately, financial reports are coming out and there is more transparency. In the whole situation, there was definitely a lack of better care for PR in external communication, she continued.

Otylia Jędrzejczak on agreement: Conflicts are meant to be resolved

Otylia Jędrzejczak asked whether she believes that the conflict between the Minister of Sport, Sławomir Nitras, and the head of the Polish Olympic Committee, Radosław Piesiewicz, can be resolved without dismissing the latter. The Olympic champion replied in one sentence: – Conflicts are meant to be resolved – she confessed.

– According to the statute, there are three ways to dismiss the president. The IOC can do it, but in this case it is practically impossible. Another way is for 2/3 of the POC board to vote on such a motion, but it can also be done by the audit committee, which informed during the board meeting that it is currently carrying out various audits related to the functioning of the POC, she concluded.
