Last minute idea for the May weekend. “Silesian sea” and magical gardens
A recreational village in the province of Silesia is perfect for a last-minute weekend trip. Don’t you have plans for the May weekend? Here’s an interesting hit.
We associate parks and gardens with classic urban areas, often available at our fingertips. Some definitely stand out from the rest and are sometimes called gems in a given voivodeship. The real hit is Ogrody Kapias on the outskirts of Goczalkowice-Zdrój. It is visited by spa guests, but also by tourists from various parts of the country. This is a great place for a May trip.
Kapias Gardens for the May weekend and more
The Kapias Gardens have been operating as a tourist attraction since 2008, and their history dates back to 1979, when Bronisław and Elżbieta Kapias founded the Kapias Nursery Farm, producing ornamental trees and shrubs. Today, the new part of this area is perfect for quiet walks, but it is also a living inspiration for people who want to design their own gardens at home or on their plots. During the trip, it is easy to get lost among the winding paths and plants known from different parts of the world. There is no shortage of labyrinths, flowers, bushes, trees, romantic benches and green lanes.
Importantly, entry to the site is free, although those interested can book a guided tour. You just need to show up during opening hours, which is currently between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. You can easily spend the entire day in the complex – there is no shortage of restaurants, a children’s zone and a plant shop. All this on an area of 4.5 ha, which allows you to feel extremely comfortable. The entrance can be found at ul. Zimowa 24.
This attraction in the spa is not everything
The gardens in Goczalkowice-Zdrój are an attraction definitely worth attention, and at the beginning of May they will exude special charm. In spring, you can mainly smell the scent of lilacs and tulips. When looking for a zone for yourself, you will find an English, Japanese, romantic, Scandinavian, and also a country-style garden. Each opens a completely different world to tourists and discovers new secrets.
During the May or weekend trip to the Kapias Gardens, it is worth remembering that Goczalkowice-Zdrój is an intimate Silesian health resort – it specializes in the treatment of many diseases, including primarily musculoskeletal, orthopedic-traumatic and neurological diseases. While there, it is worth visiting, among others: to the picturesque Lake Goczalkowickie, the famous dam reservoir on the Vistula River created in 1956. Tourists often call it the “Silesian sea” and although swimming in it is not allowed, its surroundings are great for relaxation – walking or cycling, the so-called The Vistula Bicycle Route.
If that’s not enough for you, visit the Spa Park with its oak alleys, a fountain and the building of the former “Maria Quelle” brine pump room. This area is also close to Pszczyna with its unique castle and other gems, perfect for visiting on a weekend.
