Krzysztof Ziemiec speaks bitterly about his earnings. “We’re breaking even”

Krzysztof Ziemiec

The journalist tries his hand at the internet industry and develops a YouTube channel. Krzysztof Ziemiec does not hide that not everything is going his way.

Just a few years ago, Krzysztof Ziemiec was one of the most characteristic faces of Polish Television. Until 2019, he ran the main edition of “Wiadomości” and later also “Teleexpress”. He ended his adventure with the public broadcaster in January last year, and a few months later he decided to set up his own channel on YouTube. Now he has revealed how he makes money from it.

Krzysztof Ziemiec about “Open Canned Food”

After ending his cooperation with Telewizja Polska, Krzysztof Ziemiec decided to create his own channel on the network, which he called “Open canned food”. Previously, the presenter did not have much experience in online activities, so this is undoubtedly a big challenge for him. For this reason, in the middle of last year he asked fans for financial support. “We are building a full-fledged editorial office. Our authors will be able to focus all their attention on the development of the «Otwarta Konserwa» channel, thanks to which the highest quality new content will appear on the channel non-stop. We are increasing the number of formats, there will be more comments and broadcasts – not only from the studio, but also outdoors,” he described.

Now, in an interview with the “Press” portal, Krzysztof Ziemiec informed about the progress in his editorial office. – We focused on organic work and quality. We have a professional studio in a small apartment in Warsaw. We managed to form a team of several people. International topics are led by Antoni Opaliński. Piotr Gociek (columnist of “Do Rzeczy” – editor’s note) and Łukasz Adamski (publicist, film critic, collaborator of Polish Radio Olsztyn – editor’s note) have been cooperating with us since December – they discuss current cultural events – he said.

However, the presenter cannot boast of the great popularity of his channel on the Internet. His goal at the moment is to collect over 100,000. subscribers on YouTube. In turn – according to the “Press” website – currently “the project has 109 patrons on Patronaite and can count on monthly support of PLN 3,380.”

– Royalties paid by YouTube are symbolic. We have practically no direct partners. We cooperate with several publishing houses. After paying running costs, including symbolic fees for program hosts, we break even. I hope this will change. After reaching the threshold of 100 thousand subscribers, I start conversations with potential advertisers – added Krzysztof Ziemiec.
