Kaufland limits plastic in transport. This is the cause of the new KKP containers

Kaufland wprowadza kontenery KKP

Kaufland focuses on ecological logistics. New KKP containers will reduce plastic consumption by up to 250 tons a year.

Kaufland invests in logistics and introduces modern KKP loading units (folding pallets), i.e. folding transport containers, whose design allows better use of loading space and safer and easier maneuvering in warehouses and shops. Compared to traditional wooden pallets, KKP are more durable – their service life reaches over 10 years. New solutions will reduce the consumption of plastics by up to 250 tons a year.

“Thanks to their design, it will be possible to reduce the use of stretch foil by up to 50 percent, as well as to improve the process of transporting goods throughout the entire supply chain,” informs the network.

Kaufland invests in new KKP units

– Investments in modern pallet units are part of the strategy of optimizing logistics operations. KKP increase work performance and safety, and at the same time support our environmental goals – says Tomasz Kuchta, director of the SCM Division at Kaufland Polska.

Explains that thanks to their folding construction, the number of damage in transport is reduced

– In addition, they allow the optimal use of the entire cubature of the semi -trailer. KKP guarantee the increase in volume filling of the car by 15 %, which translates into lower emissions and lower fuel consumption. This is a real step towards a more balanced supply chain – notes Kuchta.

Kaufland: “The solution will become a new standard of loading units”

As representatives of the network explain, KKP pallets are not intended for manual transport – they are operated only with forklifts. After folding, the containers can be stacked by 9 pieces, which significantly reduces the demand for warehouse space. In addition, their design has been designed for ergonomics – practical handles and hook system facilitate daily loading and unloading, improving the comfort of work.

“The solution has been used in Poland since September 2023, and currently implemented on a large scale, it will become a new standard of loading units in Kaufland,” said the network.
