The captain of the Polish national team Dawid Celt decided to put up coffee to the game with the above -mentioned Jil Teichmann (96. WTA) with the hope that the Polish woman would support good form. And it must be admitted that the intended goal was achieved. Coffee opened a match for Poland with a three -hundred victory, and it was close to closing the meeting in two parts. The Polish woman led in the premiere installment of 5: 4 and had a service gem, but then Teichmann responded strongly, winning to zero and passing the return break. And ultimately the Swiss won three games in a row and the whole set, from 5: 4 for Poland to 5: 7.
In the second installment, however, coffee pleased the Radom audience. Although the script was initially similar, i.e. breaking the Polish woman (2: 1) and breaking the rival (2: 2), she was a 32-year-old tennis player from Krynica-Zdrój, she bit again in the seventh game (breaking 4: 3), and she closed the whole set to 6: 4-after 48 minutes of play.
It seems that it was a breakthrough set of the meeting. Kawa opened another batch from breaking (1: 0), after which she consistently maintained a safe advantage, ultimately winning this installment 6: 2. There was an experience on the Polish side, which is famous for a better double game, but the last weeks are also a successful result in the context of a single career. Captain Celt apparently had a nose to combine the inauguration for the Polish team.
In the second single match during Thursday’s competition Magda Linette (30. WTA) will play with Viktoria Golubic (93. WTA). In the double game Linette will create a duo with Martyna Kubka (361. WTA) against doubles Susan Bandecchi and Celine Naf.
Billie Jean King Cup. Why is there no Iga Świątek?
Let us remind you that this time the Polish team lacked Iga Świątek. The vice -leader of the WTA ranking officially announced (April 2) about her absence, which should be understood. The single at the same time is preparing to play during the WTA 500 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix tournament in Stuttgart (April 14-21).
