Karol Nawrocki returned to the ring! The president appeared in a special role

The President of Poland came to the hometown of Gdańsk. In the Tri -City, Karol Nawrocki was honored by the opening of the Second Memorial Jan Biangi, appearing in the ring.

From birth, Jan Biana was associated with the Tri -City. Born in Sopot, but he was a player of Gedania Gdańsk. Although he started his career as a child, at ten years old and practicing gymnastics in Sopot Sokole.

President Nawrocki again in the ring! A special opportunity in Gdańsk

Biana was a great boxer. In total, he won 176 fights in his career, drew 12, and lost only in nine cases. Twice he reached for the medals of the Polish boxing championships, then very firmly planted. In the rooster category, Bianga was a bronze medalist twice (1930 and 1931).

The legendary player became famous for his steadfast. Biana was imprisoned in German concentration camps during World War II. He refused to renounce his Polishness. Biana went through camps in Nowy Port, Stutthof, Sachsenhausen and Mauthausen-Gusen, where he spent five years.

After returning from captivity to his hometown of Sopot, after the war, Bianga devoted himself to training young boxers. He worked, among others in the fleet of Gdynia, Gwardia and Polonia Gdańsk, as well as an assistant to the national team trainer. He died in 1982.

On Sunday (i.e. August 10) at the Brzostek Top Team boxing club in Gdańsk, the Memorial of them was inaugurated. Jan Biangi. Karol Nawrocki graced the event with his presence. The president appeared in the ring, emphasizing how important the figure was and is still the patron of the boxing event in Gdańsk.

– Jan Biana was not ready to sign a Volkslist, because Poland was in his heart, Polish blood flowed in his veins and was ready to go to suffer for being attached to Poland. He was able to work hard in quarries, be imprisoned by the Germans in concentration camps just because he was one of us, he was a Pole like us – said President Nawrocki, quoted by Radio Gdańsk.

The new president has already appeared for the first time officially performing his duties in his hometown. In addition to visiting the mentioned boxing club, Nawrocki visited, among others Museum of World War II.
