Kamil Stoch is in big trouble. Explanations from Adam Małysz

Kamil Stoch

The Polish national team started the 2024/25 ski jumping season with a false start. One of the disappointments is Kamil Stoch, who is looking for a return to the top.

At least this is the opinion of Adam Małysz, currently the head of the Polish Ski Association. In the case of Małysz and Stoch, we are talking about two of the most distinguished ski jumpers in Polish history – and, in addition, they are also world legends.

Kamil Stoch’s problems. Adam Małysz tries to explain it

The previous season of the Polish national ski jumping team was a campaign that everyone would like to forget as soon as possible. The generational change crisis hit the team hard, and one of the few positive accents was Aleksander Zniszczoł, the new leader of the senior team.

For now, it is difficult to talk about any significant improvement on the part of the most experienced ones. Polish fans are certainly waiting for the successes of Dawid Kubacki, Piotr Żyła, and Stoch, mentioned at the beginning. The latter even has its own training staff, separate from the one led by Thomas Thurnbichler.

Stoch really wants to improve his position in the World Cup. Małysz revealed the story to the media.

– I talked to Michał Doleżal about this. He said that Kamil tenses up so much, it’s unbelievable. I don’t know why, maybe Kamil wants to get back to the top at all costs. There were moments in the summer when he actually jumped very well. I watched these jumps myself, I received them on videos from the trainers and they looked really nice. The question is whether it’s not like Kamil was able to do it casually. Now comes the pressure. He wants to be at the forefront very quickly, he wants to be successful. I know that some people will say: An older player, with so much experience and success, is he stressed? Only the human psyche doesn’t work that way. Sometimes even the smallest thing can make a person unable to relax – admitted the president of PZN in Onet.
