However, the reality turned out to be brutal. Poles recorded only one podium in the 2024/25 season, due to definitely the best in the team of Thomas Thurnbichler, Paweł Wąska. What’s more, this took place only at the finish of the competition.

The effect is that a year before the Olympic Games, the trainer changed in the Polish national team. Maciej Maciusiak took the Thurnbichler place.

Certainly, the most experienced in the team imagined their performances completely differently, that is, Trice: Kamil Stoch, Dawid Kubacki and Piotr Żyła. The three -time Olympic champion, the first of the mentioned, even invested in his own training staff. Ultimately, cooperation with Michał Doleżal did not bring measurable benefits in the form of a radical improvement in Stoch’s results. Perhaps, however, in the configuration without Thurnbichler, the best – next to Adam Małysz and Wojciech Fortuna – a jumper in the history of Poland, will return to the right track.

Stoch himself took the floor in front of the camera of the skijumping.pl portal, broadly summarizing the season. There were also words after parting with the Thurnbichler coach.

– I would like to thank the coach for these two years of our cooperation, where I was a player under his care. I think that every trainer I worked with brought something to my career that I can build further, I hope, successes. Each coach added a brick to what I achieved in his life. Anyway, we also achieved very good results with coach Thurnbichler. It was not possible to get a medal at any party, win or enter the podium of individual competitions, but these results were at a very high level. And this must also be admitted (…) I think we have finished it in the right way. So a weekend with the highest possible sports level that could only be done. It was a joint work. We worked to the end, as it was possible and we are parting at correct or even good relationships – admitted Stoch in an interview with Dominik Formela.

What will be the future of Stoch? The three -time Olympic champion does not intend to end his career, he still has a lot of joy from ski jumping and looks at next year’s, mentioned Games in Italy.

– It’s such a relationship “I love and hate”. Jumping gives me a cheer and can press me specifically. On the other hand, such a weekend as today (i.e. during the competition in Planica, Empe) confirms me that I have been here for so many years and I want to do it for so many years. Because I just love what I do. Such flights above 230 meters, it is pouring fuel, light and sun in me. With such full optimism and hope I finish this season. And I’m going to work on the next one (…) I love to do it. I love jumping on skis and every second in the air is worth all the sacrifices for me – he noted with … a long -awaited Stoch smile.

Paweł Wąsek, the leader of the Polish national team in the 2024/25 season

The weekend in Planica was the last in the 2024/25 campaign. Looking at the general classification of the World Cup, Paweł Wąsek was at most from Poles. The youngest of the Polish team, although already 25 years old, accumulated a total of 612 points, which gave him 14th place in the hierarchy of the World Cup. In the 20th position, the season was finished by Aleksander Znamczoł, having 267 points on his account. Kamil Stoch was 31st, with 157 points.

Four other Poles scored in the World Cup 2024/25 classification. Dawid Kubacki finished the season in 35th (122 points), Jakub Wolny was 37. (111), Piotr Żyła 39. (80), and Maciej Kot 52. (13). As for the best jumpers of the season, the whole podium belonged to Austrian jumpers. Daniel Tschafenig (1805) triumphed, the second was Jan Hoerl (1652), and the third Stefan Kraft (1290).
