Kacper Tomasiak with the World Championships medal! The Pole performed magic on the hill
In the individual competition of the Junior World Championships in Lillehammer on Thursday (March 5), ski jumper Kacper Tomasiak stood on the podium.
Although Kacper Tomasiak has three Olympic medals to his name, and in the 2025/26 season he practically immediately became the leader of the Polish national team, we are still talking about a boy who is only 19 years old.
However, such a young age entitled the jumper to compete in this year’s Junior World Championships. And although Tomasiak is doing very well among the seniors, at the beginning of March he fought against competitors closer to his own age (2007).
In the individual competition on Thursday (March 5), Tomasiak stood on the podium of the world championships. The Pole took second place and won the silver medal. The best was Austrian Stephan Embacher.
World Championships: Kacper Tomasiak is the vice-champion of the world! A great success for the Pole
The leader of the Polish national team certainly wanted to win a gold medal in Lillehammer. However, the mentioned Embacher once again showed that he is in really excellent condition. The Austrian became the gold medalist of the Junior World Championships… for the third time in a row! Embacher was the first ski jumper in history to do this.
Fortunately, this was the last time of the extremely talented Austrian in the context of the junior World Championships. Kacper Tomasiak, however, will be able to make one more attempt in 2027.
It is also worth emphasizing that thanks to the podium place in the World Championships, the Pole won an additional place for the Polish national team in the World Cup series. Which is certainly an important benefit for coach Maciej Maciusiak’s team, of which Tomasiak is currently a key figure.
Thursday’s World Junior Championships medal is Poland’s first since 2023. Then Jan Habdas won the bronze medal. However, the red and white team has been waiting for gold longer, since the 2014 edition. Jakub Wolny won then.
To be precise, in the final series of the competition in Lillehammer we watched three Polish representatives. Apart from Kacper Tomasiak, his younger brother Konrad also made his second jump, ultimately taking 20th place. Kamil Waszek finished the competition in 18th place. The 31st Pole who did not make it to the final series after the first jump was Łukasz Łukaszczyk, the last Pole.
