Kacper Tomasiak in the medal game! Polish fans can now rub their hands

Kacper Tomasiak

Kacper Tomasiak can again bring a lot of joy to ski jumping fans in Poland. In just a few days, the Pole will compete at the Junior World Championships in Lillehammer.

Although Kacper Tomasiak has three Olympic medals to his name, and in the 2025/26 season he practically immediately became the leader of the Polish national team, we are still talking about a boy who is only 19 years old.

Such a young age entitles the jumper to compete in this year’s Junior World Championships. And although Tomasiak is doing very well among the seniors, at the beginning of March he will fight against competitors closer to his own age (2007).

Junior World Championships: Kacper Tomasiak is one of the favorites for the gold medal!

Maciej Maciusiak, coach of the A team, remains calm about Tomasiak’s performance. The man who led the sensational teenager to three medals, and crowned the entire performance of the Polish jumpers with the puck in duets. They won the medal there – Tomasiak and Paweł Wąsek.

– First, Kacper Tomasiak will start in the individual competition in Lillehammer, and then we will see. The level of the Junior World Championships this year will be very high. We see how the younger players perform. There will be a fierce fight, and who will win? Time will tell, the competition is just a few days away. There are a few favorites – admitted the ski jumper’s coach in an interview for skijumping.pl.

Maciusiak spoke after a moderately successful World Cup weekend for the Polish representatives. On the Austrian Kulm ski jumping hill in Bad Mitterndorf there was definitely more reason to worry than to be happy. On the plus side? Piotr Żyła’s tenth place in Sunday’s competition. And that’s actually… that would be enough good news for coach Maciusiak’s team.

When exactly will Tomasiak start in the Junior World Championships? His performance in Lillehammer, Norway, is next Thursday (March 5). That’s when the individual competition will take place.

Interestingly, a day later (i.e. March 6) the World Cup weekend in Lahti will begin. Behind the scenes, there is talk about Tomasiak’s chances of also playing in Finland, with the senior team. How is this possible? It may end with a quick transfer from Norway to Finland, after Thursday’s individual competition of the Junior World Championships.

Tomasiak’s points are also needed in the context of the World Cup. You could see how much they are missing last weekend in Bad Mitterndorf. The Polish national team in Austria played a supporting role during ski flying.
