“Just plain boorishness.” Left MP responds to PiS politician’s statement
– This is just boorishness – Anita Kucharska-Dziedzic from Nowa Lewica responded to the PiS MP. Paweł Jabłoński stated on TOK FM that the Olympic Games are attended by “female competitors about whom there are doubts”.
The Olympic Games in Paris are causing a lot of emotions, also among Polish politicians. One of them is Paweł Jabłoński from Law and Justice. After the defeat of Polish judoka Angelika Szymańska to Prisca Acalaraz, Aviti published a post online in which he drew attention to the Mexican’s appearance.
Paweł Jabłoński about the Olympic Games athletes
“And here is the ‘athlete’ who defeated a Polish representative in judo today – and then won an Olympic medal. What do you think about it?” he wrote. He also suggested that we did not hear any criticism of her on television because the commentators could have feared consequences similar to those previously suffered by Przemysław Babiarz.
Jabłoński was asked about his words towards the Mexican judoka on TOK FM. “I believe that this is a systemic problem and there are many cases where there are female competitors who are in doubt,” he said. However, the host of the program noted that the participants of the Olympic Games are tested, so a man’s start in the women’s category is not possible.
Anita Kucharska-Dziedzic responds to PiS MP
– We can see what it looks like. I don’t have that information, whether it’s a woman or a man, and neither does the editor. That’s why I’m only basing it on what I see – replied the PiS MP. He also assured that he doesn’t think he should apologize. – In my opinion, an apology is due to all those players who didn’t stand a chance – he added.
Anita Kucharska-Dziedzicz of Nowa Lewica responded to Jabłoński’s statement on TOK FM. “I’ll be blunt. This is just plain boorishness,” she assessed. The MP emphasized that some men – politicians, commentators, journalists – are happy to comment on the appearance of female athletes. “Maybe a female politician would be happy to comment on the appearance of this or that athlete or politician. She would assess on air whether he is too short, too tall, whether he has pretty eyes or ugly ones,” she said.
