Julia Szeremeta returned in great style. The Pole defeated the German in the ring!
After a few months of break, Julia Szeremeta entered the ring again. The Pole defeated German Lena Marie Büchner in great style in her hometown of Lublin.
If anyone was wondering what impact a slightly longer break without an official fight would have on Julia Szeremeta, they got their answer on Friday evening. The Olympic vice-champion returned to the competition in great style, showing what could be observed, among others: during the Olympic trials in the capital of France. This is boxing at its best.
Julia Szeremeta won the fight at Suzuki Boxing Night!
The 21-year-old Polish boxer was the biggest star at the gala in Lublin. Local fans rubbed their hands at the opportunity to see their favorite girl in action, a girl from this city, on the eastern side of Poland.
In the main event, Szeremeta faced German Lena Marie Büchner. The Polish opponent did not have the opportunity to present herself at the Olympic tournament, having lost the previous qualifications for the Olympics. However, it was known that the German boxer wanted to show the solid boxing for which she is known.
Was this trick successful? There is certainly no denying Büchner’s ambition. Over the course of three rounds, Szeremeta was clearly better, severely disturbing the German several times with her accurate blows. However, in the fight against the Olympic vice-champion, Büchner lasted the full distance. Ultimately, Szeremeta won by unanimous decision of the judges on points.
What is extremely important, the Polish boxer showed that she has a really huge potential to take further, more and more confident steps. However, it is important that she makes the right sports decisions in the coming months and years of her career. This type of talent does not appear very often in Polish combat sports.
Olympic medal after 32 years for Polish boxing
It is worth recalling that Szeremeta, by standing on the podium during the Olympic Games in Paris, broke the long-standing medal deadlock of the Polish national team. Before the Pole reached for the Olympic medal – the first in women’s boxing – fans had to wait for it for 32 years.
The last medalist was Wojciech Bartnik, who won the bronze medal during the Olympic Games in Barcelona (1992). A place in the final and the final defeat of Szeremeta against Lin Yu Ting from Chinese Taipei gave the Pole the Olympic vice-championship.
