Neither we are so strong, nor Lithuania is so weak, that without such a hundred percent attitude, without appropriate concentration, we will have huge problems. You have to approach the Lithuanian team with great respect and at the same time with self-confidence that we can do it and that we are strong. But we are aware that the crossing will be difficult. And Lithuania certainly has significantly fewer points than it should have. So I hope the team is aware of this. Nobody likes such meetings. On paper we are the favourite. But just remember the last match at the National Stadium, where it was very difficult for us to win. This shot by Robert hits the opponent’s leg, the ball confuses the Lithuanian goalkeeper and it goes in. And probably in the 70th minute they have a great situation from a few meters and the ball does not hit the goal. We will talk about it and remind you, said the coach of the Polish national team.

It is worth recalling that in the first two matches during coach Urban’s term, the Poles first drew (1:1) in Rotterdam with the Netherlands, and then recorded a victory (3:1) over Finland, which was crucial for the current table structure. The former Polish representative couldn’t imagine a better start to his term as coach. Urban quickly gained many supporters.

However, as you can see, he is too experienced a trainer not to know that a fan or expert boom can quickly turn into a bear market. All it takes is just a few, and sometimes even one, worse result.

When and against whom will the Polish national football team play?

The Poles will play their next match at the Superauto.pl Silesian Stadium. The team led by Jan Urban will meet in Chorzów, on October 9 (i.e. Thursday), and the rival will be the New Zealand national team.

The last three challenges of this calendar year for the Polish national football team are a return to qualifying play. Three days after the friendly match in Chorzów, the Poles will play away against Lithuania (October 12). Both the home match against New Zealand and the away match in Lithuania will start at the same time – 20:45.

The last international break, closing the qualifying rounds for the 2026 World Cup, will take place in November. First, the hit clash between Poland and the Netherlands (14/11) at the PGE National Stadium, and finally the fight for tickets to the World Cup, trip and the match between Malta and Poland (17/11).
