It will be Iga Świątek’s match to be or not to be. A must-see clash!
Iga Świątek won and lost during the WTA Finals 2024. The Pole will face a decisive match against Jessica Pegula on Thursday (November 7).
The American is resigned to her fate before her third match at the WTA Finals 2024. Jessica Pegula lost her first two matches without winning a single set. The finalist of this year’s US Open (defeated to Aryna Sabalenka in the game for the trophy) failed to find a way against both Coco Gauff (3:6, 2:6) and Barbora Krejcikova (3:6, 3:6). The American’s form at this stage of the season is far from optimal.
WTA Finals: Iga Świątek – Jessica Pegula. Where and when to watch the match?
Iga Świątek also has her problems. The former leader of the WTA rankings returned to the game after a dozen or so weeks of break from playing for stakes. The last time the Pole was seen before the tournament in Riyadh was during the US Open. What’s more, Świątek lost in the quarterfinals of the event to Pegula, who defeated the Polish tennis player 2:6, 2:6, paving her way to the grand final in the tournament ladder.
There will be a chance for a rematch for Świątek in Saudi Arabia. The Pole still has something to play for, advancement to the semi-finals of the event is within reach. Świątek, however, does not depend only on her attitude on the court. In addition to the win against Pegula, the 23-year-old player needs Gauff to win in the match against Krejcikova. This match will be played as the second one in the Thursday session in Riyadh.
What time will the Świątek-Pegula match start? Starting at 1:30 p.m. The Gauff-Krejcikova fight will start no earlier than 4:00 p.m. Interestingly, if the scenario with Świątek’s victory over Pegula and Krejcikova’s defeat against Gauff comes true, the Pole will play against… Aryna Sabalenka in the WTA Finals semi-final. That is, her biggest rival, recently the new leader of the WTA ranking.
WTA Finals matches can be watched on Canal+ sports channels and via Canal+ online.
