It will be a special farewell to the Polish national team. The end of a fan favorite
Cezary Kulesza, president of the Polish Football Association, confirmed that Kamil Grosicki will officially say goodbye to the fans during the Poland-Scotland match.
Not so long ago, before the October match between Poland and Portugal at the PGE National Stadium in Warsaw, Grzegorz Krychowiak and Wojciech Szczęsny officially said goodbye. Experienced Polish representatives ended their careers in the national team, and the Polish Football Association organized a symbolic pre-match farewell for them, with the stands packed with fans of the team.
Cezary Kulesza officially says goodbye to Kamil Grosicki
The generational change in the national team continues. After Krychowiak and Szczęsny, it was time for the next generation who reached, among others, to the quarterfinals of Euro 2016. This player will be Kamil Grosicki. For years, the winger was the strength of the national team’s offensive, driving the team’s offensive actions together with Jakub Błaszczykowski. “Grosik” is a character very liked by fans. The player announced the end of his national team career at the end of Euro 2024, where he went, appointed by coach Michał Probierz. Then, symbolically, on German pitches, he parted ways with the fans after the Poland-France match (1:1).
As it turns out, this is not the last such opportunity for the footballer and captain of Pogoń Szczecin. This was announced by the president of the Polish Football Association, Cezary Kulesza. Additionally, he referred to the potential farewell of Kamil Glik from the team.
– I have already talked to Kamil Grosicki. His farewell will be with Scotland (…) Kamil Glik is a playing footballer and has not yet said that he will no longer run for the game. He will not end his career. When Kamil announces it, I will contact him because I respect this player very much – wrote Onet, quoting the words of the president of the Polish Football Association interviewed on the Sport Mach YouTube channel.
Grosicki played as many as 94 official matches for the senior national team. He scored 17 goals in them. The footballer achieved this in the years 2008-24.
UEFA Nations League: The Polish national team has a chance of advancing
After four rounds, it is still not certain who will play next in the A League. The leaders of Group 1 are the Portuguese, who lost their first points only on Tuesday evening. Cristiano Ronaldo and company were stopped by the Scots, drawing with the leader goalless and thus gaining… their first point in this year’s competition.
Portugal has 10 points and the lead. In second place are the Croatians, who lost (1-2) to Portugal away, but were able to beat both the Scots (2-1) and the Poles (1-0) at home. Additionally, a very important draw from Croatia’s perspective was the draw at the PGE National Stadium (3:3), which allowed them to maintain distance over the Polish national team. Coach Probierz’s team, however, still has a chance to be among the two best teams in the group, which will advance them to the play-off phase, to the quarter-finals.
The Poles have four points and two more games to play. These will take place during the November international break. First, away against Portugal (15/11), and then, at the end of the group games, at home against Scotland (18/11), where Kamil Grosicki will say goodbye.
The third place in the group, where the Poles are, means they have to play a play-off with one of the teams from League B to stay among the best in the UEFA Nations League. Fourth position means direct relegation. However, it seems that Scotland should not leapfrog Poland, although the fact is that a lot can still happen in group 1.
