Renovation of the station in Oława
After Hel, the time has come for Oława – now this Lower Silesian Pearl of Architecture will undergo a renovation, whose effects passengers will be able to admire next year. For now, they can still use the station and platforms itself, but access to the building is limited. In the future, there will be many modern solutions that will make travel to Oława from nearby Katowice and Wrocław much more pleasant. During the renovation, both the facade and the interior of the object will be renewed. A new platform will also be created, which, like the current one, will become available to people with disabilities.
“Architectural barriers will be liquidated and improvements will be introduced, including leading paths, plates in the Braille alphabet. In order to optimize water consumption, electricity and heat, a BMS (Building Management System) system will be installed” – says PKP in a message.
The conservator of monuments was necessary
“This is an exciting and important task,” believes Paweł Lisiewicz, a member of the board of PKP SA, modernization of such a station as the one in Oława is a great challenge for the investor – in this case we are dealing with the oldest active building of this type throughout Poland. In total, the project will cost a railway company 17 million.
An important element was the presence of a conservator, who will watch over the monument to keep as much as possible from its original form. “From the north-eastern side (from the city side) there will be an inscription” Railway station “, while on the south-west facade (from the track side):” Oława “. From the city side, a clock will also be placed on the facade. The historical entrance to the building will be restored in the eastern part of the station,” writes the NBI Engineering portal.
