With hopes, but also awareness of the result of the first meeting, the CEV Cup final match was the volleyball players of Asseco Resovia Rzeszów. In the capital of Podkarpacie it was 3: 2 for the visitors and it became clear that to defend the title, the residents of Rzeszów needed winning for three points (3: 1 or 3: 0) or the victorious tie-break and extra time in the so-called golden set.

Many famous faces could be found in the Turkish team. Matt Anderson is undoubtedly the biggest star. American host who gives the impression of a player who does not affect time. This was also seen during Wednesday’s rematch in the CEV Cup final. When the situation was difficult, and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów took the lead in the 1: 0 match in sets, it was Anderson who began to score important points.

What’s more, he also had Trevora Clevenot on his side. This is another important element of the band’s puzzle from Ankara. The Frenchman, well known from PlusLiga, the Olympic champion, gave a lot of certainty to his team. In addition, a lot of work, not necessarily related to the offensive – and a good reception or playing in the belay – was just falling on French shoulders. What to hide with, Clevenot coped and is doing very well.

What on the Rzeszowska side? A plus won the set and a return in the third, key set of competition. Asseco Resovia, despite the great problems at the beginning of the party, managed to jump to Ziraat and play for advantage at the very end. However, one or two balls were missing to go 2: 1 in sets and put the hosts against the wall.

When this pressure was gone, the Turkish band felt very free. This was especially shown by Anderson, who broke Asseco Resovia’s reception with his great play. Looking holistically, Ziraat was a team better than a PlusLiga representative. It is also worth noting a solid return to the pitch, after a health break, Bartosz Bednorz. The guest player tried to be an effective leader, repeatedly having the most difficult balls to finish. Unfortunately, it was not enough to try to play even one more set more, and maybe even fight for a return, playing a “golden party”.

Bednorz was the best scoring on the Rzeszów side, scoring 14 points. Anderson won 17 points, of which as many as 5 after direct service aces.

However, this is not the end of emotions if we look at European playing in the edition of volleyball players. It is worth recalling that a dozen or so days ago after the Challenge Cup – the third in the CEV validity category – the players of Bogdanka Luk Lublin reached. Let’s add, a year ago the Polish team was also the best, only that the Warsaw project.

Final Four of the Champions League promises to be very interesting. First of all, the most important club tournament of the season in Europe will be played at the Atlas Arena in Łódź (May 16-18). And secondly, there are two Polish bands in the game. JSW Jastrzębski Węgiel and Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie will play in the semi -finals. Interestingly, there will be a “Polish semi -final”, so in Łódź there will definitely be one Polish team in the game for the trophy.

In the second semi -final of LM, the Italian Sir Sicoma Monini Perugia will play with Turkish Halkbank Ankara.
