“Island of the Sun” with Wizz Air. This destination will be a holiday hit
Wizz Air surprised again with new routes. Polish tourists will benefit from these three destinations during the holidays.
Wizz Air is strengthening its network of connections from Krakow. This summer, the Hungarian carrier will increase the frequency of its flights from Małopolska and will extend some connections launched in winter. Lovers of discovering new places on the world map will be delighted, because there will also be new European routes. Among the three surprises was an island that will surely inspire many to book a vacation. We are talking about the Greek Rhodes, called the “Island of the Sun”.
Wizz Air is growing in Krakow
This year’s summer season, Wizz Air will operate approximately 2,900 flights from Krakow. This is as many as 1.8 million seats on planes to and from Małopolska, which means an increase of 40 percent compared to last year’s holidays. However, Wizz Air remains the second airline at the Balice airport, after Ryanair. Its share is 17.2 percent.
The numbers translate into passenger satisfaction, who can test subsequent routes launched by the carrier. First, in winter, Hungarian airlines launched flights to Bilbao, Tallinn and Vilnius. Now it’s time for summer announcements, which also include three European surprises.
Wizz Air will take Poles there
First – Budapest. Even though the Hungarian capital is less than 10 hours away by train, many tourists still prefer to fly here, especially if they are only planning a short city break. From April 29, 2026, Wizz Air will fly from Krakow to Budapest every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Tickets can be purchased for less than PLN 100 one way.
Venice will also start on March 31, from Małopolska three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays). However, the most anticipated Wizz Air connection is Rhodes. The Greek “Island of the Sun” (as it is called in tour operators’ offers) will certainly be an important destination this summer and a safe alternative to places that are less popular due to the war in the Middle East. “The route to Rhodes will be served three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays), with prices starting from PLN 139, and the first flight will take place on June 9, 2026,” writes Rynek Lotniczy.
