Is today a trading Sunday? Where will we shop?
The last Sunday in October is not commercial. You can shop only in selected places.
A week before All Saints’ Day, we will not do any major shopping. Sunday, October 26, is not a trading Sunday. Trade restrictions apply on this day. However, this does not mean that all stores will remain closed.
The exceptions provided for in the act allow for the continuation of business in specific industries – thanks to which customers can still count on access to the most important products and services, although the choice will be more limited than on a weekday.
Where will we shop on Sunday, October 26?
Markets and shopping malls are closed today, but the regulations provide for a number of exceptions. Trade and services continue to function in several key areas. Here are the places that remain open:
-
gas stations – full service for travelers and standard assortment,
-
pharmacies and pharmacy points – medicines and medical products,
-
flower shops,
-
gastronomy – restaurants, cafes and other catering outlets,
-
postal facilities – if revenues from postal services exceed 40%. turnover,
-
small shops run personally by the owner – including local shops, grocery stores and franchises (e.g. Żabka).
It is worth remembering that, according to the regulations, the owner or his immediate family can stand behind the counter and conduct sales themselves. This solution supports smaller stores and allows them to operate also on trade ban days.
Store opening hours on Sunday, October 26
Although some stores and service points are open, their opening hours may differ from those on commercial Sundays or weekdays. Gas stations and pharmacies often operate 24 hours a day or according to a fixed schedule, while small store owners set their own working hours for that day.
Before going shopping on Sunday, it is worth checking local information – on websites or directly on the store’s website.
When is the next trading Sunday?
Today, large stores remain closed, as they do on all Sundays in November. The next opportunity to shop on Sunday will not appear until December 7. On that day, shopping malls, supermarkets and grocery chains will be open without statutory restrictions.
